(Google Photo made this little film out of my photos and video clips taken at #makerfest in Bergen Public Library. I’m usually kind of not very impressed by these automatically produced photo & video collections, but this time the Google machine did a great job, I think. For once, also, the music is bearable.)
As you can see in the video, I spent a couple of days in Bergen this week. I took part in their absolutely brilliant #makerfest, a week packed with all kinds of maker activities in and around the library. I was invited to give a talk Friday morning on the concept of “maker library” and I had brought some of the makerboxes for people to check out. In the evening, after a concert in the with the Norwegian singer Sandra Kolstad (full of feeling) in the library café/pub the library organized a handson maker mingle event up in the youth section (which, by the way, is totally awesome) So great to be part of this innovative library experiment, where the urban friday night life met maker culture! After pitching mymakerbox.es I invited people to try out the brand new solder-your-own-maker-heart box, facilitated by Rickard Dahlstrand at the Swedish Internet Foundation. Super great response! Wow, the #makerfest, facilitated by the library innovators Herdis Moldøen Per Vold Håvard Legreid and Leikny Haga Indergaard, became such a great self-organizing and inclusive event. So happy to be part of it and can’t wait to visit Bergen again!
